CHALLENGE:
Headquartered in Edgewood, New York, tii Network Technologies is a leading provider of high performance lightning and surge protection devices, network interface technology and residential gateway systems. The company recently moved into its Edgewood facility and 700 employees are now located there. The Workplace Group faced a number of challenges on this project; including the fact that tii had not replaced its furniture in approximately 30 years. Plus, the furnishings and workflow needs of many different departments had to be coordinated and fulfilled...encompassing sales, customer service, accounting, engineering, and several technical departments.

SOLUTION:
Meeting the dual challenges of separating different departments while still maintaining a feeling of airiness, The Workplace Group utilized a combination of acoustical high-panel partitions and low partitions – measuring from 42 inches to 96 inches in height. And, instead of specifying partitions covered in all fabric, a stackable mix of partitions was chosen featuring fabric on the lower portions and glass on top to give employees a sense of openness in their working environment. Another benefit of using the glass designs is that it optimizes the cascading of light from windows that surround the entire floor of the building.

RESULT:
Employees and management at tii Network Technologies are exceptionally happy with their new office space, planned and designed by The Workplace Group. Of particular note is the way in which the open atmosphere of the layout has helped to promote teamwork among people throughout the company’s Edgewood office location.
